The ideal candidate will provide expert advice to clients regarding employee benefit plans.Job Overview:Provide comprehensive counsel to clients on various employee benefit plans, including retirement and welfare benefit plans.Advise clients on ongoing benefits work and address benefits issues arising from MA transactions, financings, and other business dealings.Responsibilities:Offer expert advice and guidance to clients on employee benefit plans.Handle ongoing benefits work and address benefits-related issues within the context of business transactions.Collaborate with clients to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.Draft and review legal documents related to employee benefit plans.Conduct legal research and analysis about employee benefits laws and regulations.Represent clients in negotiations, disputes, or other legal proceedings related to employee benefits.Requirements:At least 5 years of relevant experience in employee benefits law, with expertise in retirement and welfare benefit plans.Previous experience working in a law firm environment is preferred.Alternatively, experience in an accounting firm or consulting firm will be considered.Admission to the New York State Bar or eligibility to waive into the New York Bar.Strong understanding of ERISA, tax, and other relevant laws governing employee benefit plans.Education and Certifications:Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.Admission to the New York State Bar or eligibility to waive into the New York Bar.Any additional certifications or advanced degrees related to employee benefits law are advantageous.Skills:Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and quality.Proficiency in legal research tools and software.Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.Strong interpersonal skills for building and maintaining client relationships.
