About the job Rampart Bio is working on cutting-edge science in the gene therapy space to advance breakthroughs in rare diseases and is looking for a Scientist, Molecular DNA Biology with a background in DNA structure and an understanding of DNA-based biological processes within cells. You will report to the Director of Gene Delivery Technology and will lead efforts investigating how unique DNA structures impact gene delivery and expression. In these efforts, you will drive evolution and advancement of Rampart’s core gene therapy technology. Key Responsibilities: Serve as an internal DNA structure, and molecular biology, subject matter expert. Activities may include: Design and conduct experiments to interrogate DNA structure (G-quadruplexes, i- motifs, DNA knots, DNA hairpins, and cruciform DNA). Design and conduct experiments to assess DNA topoisomers. Computational modelling of DNA structures. Construction of DNA structural libraries Led efforts to understand how DNA structure impacts protein-binding, nucleosome loading, chromatinization, and gene expression. Conceive novel DNA vector design elements and engineering approaches to achieve desired vector properties. Apply engineering approaches to generate DNA libraries of various structures or containing various gene expression cassettes to support screening of candidates for therapeutic programs. Conceive, execute, and analyze experiments to interrogate platform attributes and cellular factors/mechanisms that drive desired platform properties; collaborate with broader Research team members to execute experiments as needed. Work with colleagues to improve DNA manufacturing and develop capabilities to define DNA-based critical quality attributes that will inform on the manufacturing process. Support continued protection and expansion of the company’s intellectual property through experimental and written contributions to patent applications. Qualifications/Requirements: Ph.D. in Biophysics, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related fields. Minimum of 2 years post-doctoral experience in academia or the biotechnology industry with experience in DNA structure and nucleic acid engineering. Strong analytical skills. Experience with biochemical and cellular assays to assess DNA properties. Experience with computational modeling or prediction of DNA secondary structure. Good organizational and communication skills. Independent, motivated, and ability to work with a sense of urgency. Position located onsite in northeastern Los Angeles, CA. Ability to travel domestically and internationally when required. Compensation, Benefits & Additional Information Compensation range: $95,000 - $115,000 commensurate with qualifications and dependent on the position.
