Title: Medical DirectorReports:CEOFLSA: ExemptDivision:ClinicalGrade: N/A Job Code:B102MDDate: 05/01/2024Location:Administration Responsible for: Managing and providing high quality patient care for clients, ensuring compliance with program standards, policies, procedures and guidelines. Ensures the safe and appropriate administration of medical treatment by Staff Psychiatrists and Nurse Practitioners is provided. Provides supervision to Staff Psychiatrists and Nurse Practitioners. Position Qualifications: Must possess a medical degree with board certification in psychiatric medicine, emergency medicine or neurology. MPH is strongly preferred. Must possess and maintain a valid license and certification to practice medicine. Must demonstrate effective interpersonal, oral and written communication abilities, combined with outstanding presentational skills. Must have experienced and proficiency with computers, web-based programs, and electronic medical records. Must have ability to work with clients who have homeless, post-release, and special foster care challenges. Primary Duties: Monitors and improves the level of care given by physicians and Nurse Practitioners, by meeting individually with providers monthly and as needed for case discussion and treatment planning. Perform chart reviews to assess level of care provided, and improve documentation of physicians and nurse practitioners. Helps to decrease the no-show rate by assessing reasons for cancellations, addressing those issues. Works closely with Executive Management Team to update, amend and replace medical policies and psychiatric medication policies. Works closely with agency RN Director. Provide direct service to clients. Ongoing budget analysis, productivity monitoring, and direction of all Psychiatrists and Nurse Practitioners. Ensure that employees are complying with Agency and DMH policies when providing care and prescribing medicine. Provide education and training to staff to improve client care. Enhance care team communication with agency directors (e.g. Program Directors and Nursing) Environment/Working Conditions Routine duties involving interacting with a variety of staff within the agency, clients, and the community. Daily functions which may include exposure to clients/family members from various ethnic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
