Guild is looking for a passionate individual looking to make an impact in the company's digital transformation and technical modernization efforts. As part of the Architecture team, this individual will assume a critical role in developing and establishing best in class policy governance and implementation tactics for Guild's cloud-based integration technologies and architecture. The expectation for this role is to establish and maintaining working relationships with key stakeholders across the organization to surface and solution for critical architectural and policy decisions directly impacting product delivery and internal / external system integrations. This role is expected to use a results-based and iterative approach to solving challenges in the current Guild technology landscape and drive critical initiatives enabling opportunities for future growth. This role should be thought of as an "advisor" on architectural direction to gain consensus on direction and tools, but not the implementer. Essential Functions Core Job Responsibilities Architectural Design: Design and develop architecture for high-performance, scalable PHP applications using the latest version of Laravel, ensuring that the architecture meets business requirements. Performance Optimization: Continuously identify and implement optimizations to enhance application performance and efficiency. Technical Leadership: Providing technical guidance and collaborate with project / product planning leadership to understand project / product requirements and expectations. Integration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate various software components and third-party services. Research Technical requirements to determine if existing technology needs to be replaced or supplemented with new or emerging technology. Provide P.O.C. to department leadership for approval. Documentation: Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including system architecture, codebase, and deployment processes. Security: Implement and enforce security best practices to protect the application and data from potential threats. Additional Essential Functions Create, maintain and manage application architecture models and other various design components. Interpret, use and apply information contained within application architecture to inform a range of business improvement activities, particularly those involved in the design, development, enhancement and maintenance of IT applications. Partner continuously with key IT Leaders to ensure that the overall application architecture is maintained in a coherent manner and that appropriate considerations are made for security and quality. Ensure that the respective application, data, and technology perspectives are in line with the organization's technology and governance strategies, policies, and standards. Create and discuss architecture solutions, component diagrams and design documents to solve Information Technology and business challenges for upfront agreed direction. Collaborate with software engineering, DevOps, Infrastructure, and information security leaders to recommend and participate in the design, development and implementation of standards and tools. Provide architecture thought leadership when discussing potential development tools and setting coding standards. Assist in maturing application architecture management practices. Collaborate with all relevant parties to review the objectives and constraints of each solution and determine conformance; recommend the most suitable application architecture and define the solution at a high level. Guide the design to obtain a system that fits in the customer and business context. Research overall information technology solutions on the market for particular technical requirements and business needs. Conduct and/or actively participate in meetings related to designated project(s) with applicable technical stakeholders/leaders. Think broadly and strategically about the overall technical landscape solutions needed to propel our business needs. Partner with technical leaders on approaches and responsibilities to ensure compliance with application architecture standards. Share best practices, lessons learned and consistently update the application architecture requirements based on changing technologies and knowledge related to recent, current and upcoming vendor products and solutions. Identify and recommend areas appropriate for further study and participate in any Proof-of-Concept projects required to thoroughly investigate architectural possibilities and strengthen arguments for their adoption. Identify implementation risks and analyze potential impact on the architecture and on the achievement of scheduled objectives. Contribute to necessary research and analysis to turn complex project requirements into manageable technical plans. Approach this as a partnership with other IT leaders and not an isolated responsibility. Contribute feedback and input concerning architecture and operations to Senior Management. Contribute recommendations for system changes, including redesign and enhancements to ensure process efficiency, staff productivity, usability, and customer satisfaction to Senior Management. Help design and -re-design in-house RESTful API's. Work with third party web services and API's. Help maintain sound architecture practices for complex and scalable enterprise-level applications. Work to distribute technical knowledge throughout the team. Use expertise to answer technical questions and concepts. Assist in project planning sessions to determine project scope and architectural approach as applicable on appropriate sized initiative. Properly document architectural flow functionality (design docs, in-line, wiki, etc.). Participate in creation of training materials, job aids, as well as any new rollouts or updates. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Experience architecting and developing in a cloud-based platform such as Azure (or AWS). Experience architecting and developing an API Gateway solution / service (i.e. Azure API Gateway, AWS API Gateway, GCP Apigee) Experience architecting and developing in one or more Distributed Computing / Eventing Technologies (RabbitMQ, Azure Service Bus, Kafka). Bachelor's degree required, BS in Computer Science or related field preferred, along with a minimum of seven years of experience in application development and progressive leadership experience required. Expertise in modern development architecture, SOA, Micro Services, and applicable cloud architecture concepts. Proven experience with application architecture concepts, including database, APIs, front-end layering-. Expert at creating and consuming REST APIs. Strong knowledge of JavaScript frameworks (i.e. Angular, React, Ember, ExpressJS, HandlebarsJS). Experience with QA Automation concepts and proper architecture design enabling that automation. Advanced understanding of database design and how it properly fits into the overall application/system flow. Advanced troubleshooting skills, testing and problem-solving capabilities in Dev, QA/UAT and Production environments. Expert with using a source control system, preferably Git. Experience in agile development processes using tools such as Jira, Confluence, Gitlab, and Teams. Self-starter with the demonstrated ability to learn/adapt to new technologies and techniques. Ability to document processes and procedures. Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Excellent interpersonal skills required. Highly detail-oriented and organized. Ability to think critically, including the ability to evaluate facts and data to draw conclusions and determine the long-term impact of decisions and associated risks.
