Upper School Mathematics Teacher

Ascent Classical Academy of Northern Colorado seeks a full-time Upper School Math Teacher. The Upper School at ACA consists of grades 7-12. Teachers are responsible for the education of their students. They are expected to demonstrate high moral character and have mastery of the subjects they teach. Teachers will work collaboratively to create a working and learning environment for all students that is safe, secure, and respectful. This position would report to the Dean of Faculty and begin August 2024. The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to, the following: Plan lessons and deliver instruction according to ACA's classical curriculum and pedagogy Develop and maintain a climate and culture of joy, order, and wonder in the classroom, managing student misconduct promptly and appropriately Engage professionally and charitably with students, parents, other faculty, and staff Model good judgment, prudence, virtue, self-discipline, and responsibility Develop and implement student interventions, and collaborate with intervention specialists in the creation and implementation of student IEPs Engage in professional development to deepen understanding of subject content and classical pedagogy Use appropriate technology in teaching and learning processes, record keeping, assessment, evaluation, and performance analysis Qualified candidates will meet the following requirements: A Bachelor's Degree in a related field from a fully accredited college Previous experience in classical education is preferred but not required Possess excellent written and oral communication skills Ability to communicate with students, staff and guardians in a professional manner Exemplary work habits verified by previous employers Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift 15 pounds Must be able to supervise students for outdoor recess periods for at least 25 minutes outdoors Must be able to traverse the classroom, school and stairs Must be able to traverse classroom and adjust one's tone and height, by bending or leaning, in order to teach each child Benefits Available: Competitive compensation Employer-covered monthly premiums for specific health, dental, and vision plans for full-time employees Employer contributions to health savings accounts for those opting for high-deductible plans Percentage match to retirement accounts Assistance program featuring free counseling and advisory sessions Paid time off and sick pay Strong candidates will support the school's Mission: to d evelop the moral and intellectual skills, habits, and virtues upon which independent, responsible, and joyful lives are built, in the firm belief that such lives are the basis for a free and flourishing republic. All teaching candidates must also attach a 300-50 word "statement of educational philosophy."
