Description:

Duties--- Serves as a Shift Leader who is an assistant to the Guard Shift Supervisor.--- Makes daily assignments to ensure that guard coverage is provided to assigned patrol areas.--- Independently performs installation access control for pedestrians and vehicles utilizing standard operating procedures, written orders and regulatory requirement as a guide to access determination for a wide range of unique circumstances.--- Performs Visitor Control Center (VCC) duties.--- Performs and resolves a full range of both standard procedural and non-recurring/unusual visitor access assignments.--- Operates and performs research queries on the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) workstation terminal(s) in accordance with (IAW) federal and state laws.--- Serves as a member of the installations overall security response capability during actual or simulated incidents.--- Implements the installation closure plan securing access control points (ACPs) at heightened Force Protection Condition (FPCONs), emergencies or disasters and then becomes a part of the installation response capability.--- Safeguards government personnel, property, and technologies against such threats as: unlawful entry, sabotage, espionage, theft, accidental or willful damage, and destruction.--- Authenticates identification through use of electronic Personnel Access Control Systems (ePACS), identification cards, badges, biometric automated records, verbal questioning, and other meansRequirements Conditions of Employment--- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.--- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employmentA background investigation and credit check are required.--- The incumbent must be assigned for mandatory drug testing and must agree to submit to a urinalysis on a recurring basis in accordance with Army Regulation 600-85.--- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.--- This position has been designated "Mission Essential"In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.--- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.Sstates or possessions to operate vehiclesThe incumbent must be fully qualified to operate a government vehicle.--- Position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban (the Lautenberg Amendment)This act bans individuals convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence and certain others from possession or access to firearms or ammunition.--- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.--- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.--- Due to the nature of this position, incumbent is required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime, and is subject to recall for periods of emergency overtime.--- The incumbent must successfully complete security guard training, and requires certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation with Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) training.--- The incumbent must wear the Department of the Army Security Guard (DASG) uniform in accordance with Army Regulation 190-56, maintaining a high state of appearance and hygiene.--- The incumbent must obtain and maintain applicable certifications in operating various electronic equipment and sensors.--- The incumbent may be required to wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other protective equipment, and may be required to be certified in the use of aerosol irritants and baton.--- The incumbent must be able to perform as a member of the installation's overall security response capability requiring the incumbent to carry and deploy a riot baton, carry a protective shield and employ non-lethal ammunitions if necessary.--- The incumbent must be able to obtain and sustain state certification for operating the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) terminals.--- In accordance with Army Regulation 190-56, requirements of Individual Reliability Program apply.--- The incumbent must be proficient in the use of assigned firearms/weapons, pass an initial qualification, and must qualify semi-annually thereafter in the use of assigned firearms/weapons.--- The incumbent will be required to maintain physical conditioning and pass an annual physical agility test (PAT) as outlined in Army Regulation 190-56 "The Army Civilian Police and Security Guard Program".--- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part
