POSITION SUMMARY Directors play a crucial role at Equal Measure – providing high-level oversight across multiple project portfolios, contributing heavily to creative business models and client approaches, and serving as a barometer of organizational health and vitality. The Directors of the organization work to demonstrate the use and value of racially equitable and culturally responsive evaluation/consultancy practices in their project work. They work collaboratively with the executive team and other senior leadership to advance the organizational goals tied to our strategic plan and racial equity vision moving forward and will report to the Senior Directors. The ideal candidate will excel in navigating internal change management, project and employee supervision, and inter-team collaboration. They should bring a robust background in mixed-methods evaluation and effective leadership practices. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Project Leadership and Excellence Manage external communications and negotiations with clients. Provide guidance to project staff to ensure written communications are framed appropriately. Provide high-level leadership to project teams, helping to translate strategic objectives into clear tactical goals to be carried out by individual team members. Verify the appropriateness and effectiveness of selected methods, providing oversight for evaluation scope, framing, procedures, and systems to assure high-quality deliverables and maximum client value. Effectively manage resources and motivate teams to ensure timely completion of the portfolio, establishing priorities as needed, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality products. Thought Leadership and Business Development Engage consistently in external thought leadership, participating at conferences, and other communications activities to demonstrate EqM’s value to the field. Be an active contributor to the Business Development team and lead oversight of the conceptual development of proposals. Develop a network of clients at the senior level. Organizational Leadership Undertake organizational responsibilities that support Equal Measure’s business and organizational functions. Participate in larger Equal Measure staff meetings and executive team meetings, contributing at a high level to the organization’s strategic planning process and strategic initiatives. Serve as a gauge of internal culture and create opportunities to increase or enhance internal collaboration, coordination, or communication across teams and Equal Measure staff in general. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Master’s degree with at least 10 years of research/evaluation experience required; Ph.D. (or other terminal degree) preferred. (Experience can include post-graduate internships in evaluative methods, applied research, sociology, public administration, statistics, or related fields.). 5+ years of leadership experience in the following areas: organizational non-profit/foundation work, mixed-method evaluation work/project management. 5+ years of supervisory experience - coaching and managing direct reports (preferably in a professional services environment) required. Experience with budget management, financial reporting, and forecasting. Experience working with culturally responsive evaluation practices, strongly preferred. Previous consulting experience is a plus. Topical focus or publications in the fields of education reform, equal opportunity, asset-building, community development, and/or health and human services systems, preferred. Prior experience with government contracts, a plus. Demonstrate deep alignment with Equal Measure’s values. WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS / TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS Remote office environment, with heavy computer work. Domestic travel (up to 30%). Must be willing and able to work 9am - 5pm ET. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS This is a full-time, exempt, benefits-eligible position.
