The RRT provides education to patients withcardiopulmonary disabilities, injuries, and/or diseases.Hours: 7am-7:30pmResponsibilitiesAssembles,checks for proper function, identifies malfunctions of equipment, and takesaction to correct malfunctions of equipment.Collectsand evaluates additional pertinent clinical information by assessing patient soverall cardiopulmonary status.Conductstherapeutic procedures to achieve adequate spontaneous and artificialventilation.Conductstherapeutic procedures to achieve maintenance of patient airway, including thecare of artificial airways and to achieve removal of bronchial pulmonarysecretions., Determines the appropriateness of prescribed respiratory careplan, recommends modifications where indicated, and participates in developmentof respiratory care plan.Evaluatesand monitors patient s response to respiratory care.Explainscare plan, therapy, and goals to patient, maintaining records of communication.Initiates,conducts, or modifies respiratory care techniques in an emergency setting.Makesnecessary modifications in therapeutic procedures and recommends respiratorycare plan modifications based on patient response.Performsprocedures as listed in general and critical care competency checklist andinterprets results.Protectspatient from nosocomial infection by adhering to infection control policies andprocedures.Providescare within established scope of practice for Respiratory Therapists at SBL.RegisteredRespiratory Therapists with at least 2 years of critical care experience canperform adult endotracheal intubation in a code blue setting after completionof intubation training and competency.Reviewsdata in patient record and recommends diagnostic procedures bases on allavailable patient information.Selectsand obtains equipment and assures cleanliness of equipment appropriate to therespiratory care plan.Serves asa resource to others regarding complicated respiratory care cases orprocedures.
