THE OPPORTUNITY: MECHANICAL ENGINEER Salary Range - $70000 - $90000/ year. Starting pay is commensurate with experience. Job Location: State College, Pennsylvania. This is not a remote work position. Applicants must be authorized to work full-time in the United States. This company does not sponsor work visas. POSITION SUMMARY: This position will lead the design of new products, enhance existing designs, and troubleshoot manufacturing issues. You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure products meet quality, reliability, and performance standards. Responsibilities include creating detailed designs using CAD, optimizing designs through feasibility studies and simulations, improving existing products based on feedback and market trends, supporting manufacturing processes, troubleshooting issues, implementing quality control procedures, and generating comprehensive technical documentation. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Design new products and improve existing product design using SolidWorks. Review technical documents to plan work. Create and improve streamlined manufacturing processes. Troubleshooting manufacturing issues on the production line Creating jigs and fixtures to aid the manufacturing process. Fabricating and machining custom parts for R&D and production uses Work with vendors to ensure the quality of fabricated and machined parts. Conduct design reviews: confer with other personnel to resolve design or operational problems. Document technical design details and help supervise the production process. Work well in a highly collaborative environment. Participate in the production process directly as needed. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field. 5-10 years of work experience in a manufacturing environment Experience using CAD software, SolidWorks preferred. Ability to apply advanced mathematical principles and statistics to solve problems. Ability to communicate effectively. Must be self-motivated and a great team worker. Must be able to establish deadlines and complete projects on time effectively. OTHER CONSIDERATIONS: The job is primarily performed indoors in a traditional office setting. The individual must constantly talk, hear, stand, or sit for extended periods while using a computer, telephone, or other productivity devices to communicate with other personnel and conduct business. While performing the duties of this job, the individual is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. Individuals frequently use their hands to finger, handle, feel, or operate objects and computer keyboards. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch or crawl, squat, turn/twist, and smell. The individual must frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds and/or occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. On a frequent and routine basis, this job also requires the individual to be physically present in a (light industrial), temperature-controlled, air-filtered manufacturing area to communicate with others and conduct business. The noise levels in the facility can also vary widely in different regions and specific workspace restrictions are also possible. Occasional sitting, standing, moving forward/back/side-to-side, and working around machinery and moving parts is possible; exposure to electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dust, gases, chemicals, oils, sealants, solvents, and other compounds is possible. Site conditions will dictate using proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including eye, hearing, and respiratory protection, a protective smock, steel-toe shoes, gloves, hard hats, or face shields. Contact lenses may not be allowed in some areas.
