Position: Chief Executive Officer Position Number: 1000 Division: OSNI Ponca, LLC Reports To: OSNI Board of Directors Location: Lincoln Exempt/Non-Exempt: Exempt Salary: Grade 21 ($146,056.00-$212,890.85) Our Mission is to create and stimulate the economy of the tribe while creating employment opportunities for tribal members. Summary: The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) provides leadership for all aspects of Osni Ponca, LLC/Pedco's operations with an emphasis on long-term goals, growth, profit, employment opportunities for Tribal members, and generating revenues for use by the Tribal government. The CEO is responsible for leading the development of and executing the purposes of Osni Ponca, LLC/Pedco as stated in its Articles of Organization and Operating Agreement. The CEO is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Company, subject to the Osni Ponca, LLC/Pedco Board of Directors and works directly with and under the Osni Ponca, LLC/Pedco Board of Directors. The CEO also communicates to the owner, the owner's representative, employees, Tribal Government authorities, and other stakeholders and the public on matters of Osni Ponca, LLC/Pedco and its subsidiaries. Essential Responsibilities and Duties: Leadership Responsibilities Collaborate and work with the Board of Directors and others to establish short-term objectives and long-term planning through the creation and implementation of a strategic plan. Responsible for public accountability of the organization and implementation of policies adopted by the board. Provide leadership for non-profit Pedco and for-profit Osni Ponca, LLC. Develop detailed business plans and business analytics for new opportunities. Grow and diversify revenue streams and grants for Osni Ponca, LLC/Pedco. Financial Responsibilities Maintain up-to-date knowledge and understanding of the company's financial structure, ensuring adequate and sound funding for the mission and goals of Osni Ponca, LLC/Pedco. Review the financial results of all operations, comparing them with the company's objectives and taking appropriate measures to correct unsatisfactory performance and results. Communicate with the controller about accounts payable, deposits, signing checks, and ensure adherence to full internal financial controls for all financial procedures. Develop, maintain, and amend proposed annual budget in coordination with the controller and Osni Ponca, LLC/Pedco Board of Directors. Operational Responsibilities Present regular reports on the status of Osni Ponca, LLC/Pedco operations to the board, Tribal Council, as the owner's representative, and to staff. Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, rules, regulations, and standards. Provide notice of board meetings, including handling preparation of board resolutions and proposed agendas for board meetings. Maintain close working relationships with Tribal Council and direct reports. Ensure record systems are maintained and accurate. Ensure timely donation receipts are given and retained. Ensure local, state, federal, and grant reports are filed within appropriate timelines. Serve as liaison to secure and assist with annual audit. Ensure needed documentation is maintained, accurate, and accessible for audit personnel. Maintain and update employee personnel manuals, as needed. Oversee the orientation, training, evaluation, and nurturance of board members and staff, to help ensure they are making worthwhile and fulfilling contributions to the work of the company. Supervise and evaluate paid staff members on a timely basis. Development Responsibilities Develop and implement, with board approval, community development programs such as business-related technical assistance, financial services, and workforce development. Identify and present new business ventures and opportunities to the board with supporting operating and financial proposals. Perform economic research and analysis for current and future market trends. All other duties as assigned. Preferred Talents: Effective verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills. Demonstrated leadership abilities and strong organizational skills. Entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to present new ideas to a variety of demographics. Ability to establish, foster, and maintain effective working relationships with the Board of Directors, staff, the public, local City government, and community service agencies. Ability to strategically plan for the overall company while following through on initiatives with financial diligence. Passionate about Osni Ponca, LLC/Pedco mission, vision, and values. Qualifications: Minimum: Bachelor's degree required from an accredited college or university in economics, community development, or a closely related field of study. A minimum of ten years of professional experience; a minimum of five years at a relevant senior management/decision-making position. Demonstrated experience in providing vision, leading, and managing multiple teams and business operations, while delivering measurable results with sustainable competitive advantage. Understanding of balance sheets, budgeting, and budget preparation. Knowledge and ability to provide leadership and supervision to employees through performance reviews, employee recognition, and performance conversations. Valid driver's license and be insurable. Successfully pass drug and alcohol testing, motor vehicle, education, character, and criminal background checks. Able and willing to travel. Preferred: Master's degree and/or CPA. Familiarity with the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) and APEX Accelerator Program. Experience in negotiating with other businesses, capital providers, banks, government entities, venture funds, and tribal entities. One year of experience working with Native Americans or Native American organizations. Knowledge and understanding of Public Law 93-638: Indian Self-Determination Act. Working Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to inside and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually a lively, energetic office with an open space environment. Preference will be given to Ponca Tribe of Nebraska members or members of another federally recognized tribe. However, all qualified individuals are eligible. Osni Ponca is an at-will employer.
