DC 2nd Shift - Material Handler

PURPOSE OF POSITION: To perform the movement of material into and out of the warehouse in an accurate and timely manner, as well as assisting with inventory control functions such as cycle counting and physical inventories. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform a physical count of inventory items per pre-assigned list and assist in reconciliation of record variances through investigation of inventory history and related transactions. Issue and deliver material to production lines as requisitioned, using the Gentex inventory and warehouse control system. Perform receiving and shipping functions per procedure using the Gentex inventory control system. Perform necessary transactional functions related to inventory receipts, issues, putaways, and shipments using the Gentex inventory control system. Perform area housekeeping. Make trips for supplies and pick-ups as assigned. Assist team members in the attainment of team goals by substituting and assisting in areas where help is needed. Perform other miscellaneous duties assigned by the supervisor. SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Conduct physical inventories as scheduled. Monitor and improve the following measurements: 95% minimum inventory record accuracy, all transactions performed per established procedure on an accurate and timely basis as periodically set by the supervisor, response time for internal and external customers, and shipping related performance (impact on customer). Comply with all Company policies and procedures, safety regulations, company safety policies and safely perform all duties, including but not limited to, promoting a safe workplace. Maintain high level of honesty, integrity and confidentiality with respect to company matters. POSITION DEMANDS: Basic written and verbal communication skills needed. Ability to perform basic arithmetic. Moderate to heavy physical lifting, up to 50lbs. Ability to maneuver in or around equipment. Ability to move about for at least 8 hours a shift. Ability to obtain a Hi-lo operator's license. Some positions require frequent to repetitive bending, reaching, squatting, or otherwise positioning body to load and unload materials from racks, skids, and carts of varying heights. Ability to obtain a basic understanding of the Gentex inventory and warehouse control system, which uses computerized records and bar code scanning technology, is essential. Possession of approved vehicle operator's license in order to drive company vehicles is preferred. WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this position, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts; raw glass; repetitive movements; and hazardous materials (e.g., flammable, toxic or corrosive chemicals). The work environment is temperature controlled and the noise level is usually moderate. Team members will be provided with personal protective equipment as needed to protect against identified hazards and promote a safe work environment. Manufacturing work environments require constant vigilance and compliance with safety best practices, policies, and procedures. BEHAVIORAL/VALUES CHARACTERISTICS: Must be a team player. Willingness to get involved in decision making. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to the Warehouse Supervisor. Interacts with all internal departments.
