Description:

A small, well-established, scientific firm near Wantage requires someone to carry out routine laboratory work and data analysis in the field of environmental tritium and carbon-14 measurements. The candidate should be numerate, literate, practical and able to use Microsoft Office. Academic qualifications are not a requirement but GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths, English and Science would be welcome and an A Level (or equivalent) in Maths or Science would be advantageous. Laboratory experience and scientific understanding would be useful but in-depth knowledge is not required as training will be given on the job. The work involves a mixture of practical laboratory tasks such as the use and maintenance of equipment or deployment of air samplers and administrative work such as preparing reports and using spreadsheets. The candidate must be prepared to work in a small team (the firm has only seven employees) where most jobs are shared so that projects can be completed even during staff absences. Applicants must hold a full UK Driving Licence and have their own transport as the successful candidate will be required to drive between our laboratories. The position is subject to a BPSS check, Police Act Disclosure Application and Criminal Conviction Declaration Form.
