Credit Analyst I

OVERVIEW Evaluation of the financial condition of individuals and businesses applying for credit with Shelby State Bank. Prepares spreadsheets, reports, summaries and opinions for SSB officers on new, renewal and existing loans. Responsibilities and Results: Prepare loan approval packages in partnership with Loan Officer, Credit Officer, Senior Lender for credit decisioning. Provide complete analysis of loan approval package for new credit requests, as well as annual reviews of existing relationships, utilizing various underwriting methods as established by the Credit Officer, Senior Lender and the Bank Loan Policy. Evaluates the financial condition of individuals and businesses applying for credit with Shelby State Bank. The type of analysis includes, but is not limited to, data entry of financial information, spread/trend analysis, cash flow, collateral, personal financial information and loan grading. Analyze financial information to identify key strengths and credit risks and mitigating factors associated with loan requests. Assists in determining appropriate loan structures and banking solutions to meet customer needs. Ability to provide analysis to identify trends. Special projects as required. Perform other duties as assigned and/or necessary QUALIFICATIONS Education: Bachelors degree in business, accounting, economics, or related field required. Work Experience: 1+ years banking/finance experience preferred. Skills and Knowledge: Ability to work independently. Knowledge of computer programs such as Word, Excel and various other programs is required. Must have good math skills. In-dept knowledge of lending and non-lending banking products and services. Commercial lending, residential mortgage lending and consumer lending exposure. Organization and filing skills are essential. Excellent communication skills and the ability to maintain positive relationships with others is expected. Other Job Responsibilities: Must be able to keep all sensitive information confidential. Speed and accurate use of computer, calculator and other business machines is required. Willingness to assume new responsibilities, ability to perform under pressure and adapt to changing and possibly stressful environment is expected. Positively contributes to the success of others by assisting fellow team members or departments. The ability to identify, assist with and resolve routine problems is expected. Working hours may vary. On time attendance is expected. Working Conditions: Generally good with some exposure to noise, heat, dust or other adverse factors. Climbing of stairs and some lifting of heavy items. A high amount of pressure to work efficiently, accurately and maintain good employee and customer relations. Considerable effort and eye strain from computer work and continued checking of all detail work in the department.
