Job Type: Permanent, Full-time Position Positions Available: 2Education: Completion of secondary school is preferred; Journeyman/woman trade certificate preferred but not required Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Handling heavy loads; Physically demanding; Bending, Crouching, Kneeling; Standing for extended periods. Personal Suitability: Hardworking; Eager to continue developing skills; Detail oriented Terms of Employment: $30.00 per hour Full-time 40 hours per week, overtime as required 4% vacation pay Job Duties: Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials Install forms and ensure quality control of formwork. Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems Fit and install trim items, such as doors, stairs, moulding and hardware Maintain, repair and renovate wooden structures in residences and other establishments Work with other apprentices and other construction workers Communicate with Carpenter Foreman regarding any concerns, discrepancies, or alterations that may arise during construction to a building Other duties as assigned Specific Skills and Qualifications: Ability to: Work with hand and power carpentry tools and other construction equipment backss situations and identify potential hazards.
