JOB: Criminal Paralegal SALARY: DOELOCATION: Manchester Police Station Accreditation is preferred RESPONSIBILITIES• Taking initial instructions from the client and reviewing any information provided; • Collating Evidence from the client as well as the Police and CPS• Dealing with all types of offences• Dealing with re-opening of cases, statutory declarations• Totting up, Exceptional Hardship and Special Reasons Arguments• Applications for appeal• Reviewing the documentation and ensuring that the correct procedure has been followed and advising the client of any penalties that may be imposed for the offence; • Reviewing evidence, drafting statements and preparing for trial, including preparing and instructing brief's for Counsel; • Instructing experts if appropriate; • Preparing for trial and report to client with the outcome. Administrative: • Taking calls and preparing complete file notes. • Keeping records of all telephone calls with the client, the CPS, the Police and any other interested parties• Making sure all letters are addressed correctly and sent to the right person and a copy of any communications included, with a description on the file. General: • Undertake any other duties as and when required by the management team and that are commensurate with your qualification and experience. Comply with the Injury Solicitors Practice and Procedures. Responsibilities: •Assist in the preparation of pleadings, motions, motions and other legal documents related to civil litigation. •Assist in the preparation of discovery requests and responses. •Assist in drafting discovery subpoenas. •Assist with trial preparation including preparing witness lists, memorandums of evidence, calendars, etc. for court appearances. Experience• Any prior experience of working in a law firm (Police station accreditation is preferred)• Experience of working in Criminal Law Knowledge• Knowledge of the law• Knowledge of Criminal Law• Knowledge of Proclaim (software)• Use of Common.
