Requisition Title: SIA – PHY136H5F Introductory Physics I (Laboratory & Tutorial Demonstrator) Position Type : Laboratory & Tutorial Demonstrator Course Title : PHY136H5F Introductory Physics I Course Description : A first year introductory Physics course for students who do not intend to pursue a Physics or an Astronomy program. This course is focused on providing students with conceptual understanding and problem solving skills through the study of physical phenomenon that include: Forces and Newton’s Laws of Motion; Rotational Dynamics; Simple Harmonic Motion and Waves. Number of Positions (est) : 1 position. Positions are dependent on actual course enrolment, and are not guaranteed. Course Enrolment (est): 300 students Hours of work (est) : 68 hours Class schedule : ttb. utoronto. ca/ Sessional dates of appointment : September 2023 – December 2023 Salary : CUPE3902 Unit 3 Salaries. The rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail. Qualifications : M. Sc. in Physics. Sound knowledge in contents covered in the course required. Previous TA/SIA experience working with undergraduate students in Physics setting an asset to be able to demonstrate and deliver course content consistently within the Uof T's standards. Good communication skills are required as well. Description of Duties : Duties will include laboratory demonstrations, leading tutorials, marking laboratory reports, and/or quizzes/assignments. May also include invigilation of term tests and/or final exam.
