Job Description: A SEN Teaching Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the classroom teacher and enhancing the learning experience for young students, aged 11 to 16 years. The job description can vary slightly depending on the schools specific needs, but generally, Secondary school teaching assistants are responsible for Special Education and Inclusion, Behaviour Management, backssment and Progress Tracking, Classroom organisation, Communication, Extra: Curricular Activities, Safeguarding and Child Welfare. A teaching assistant plays a vital role in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. They work closely with the classroom teacher, students, and other school staff to ensure a successful educational experience for all children. Key responsibilities Collaborate with classroom teachers to create a positive and engaging learning environment. Provide one: on: one or small group support to students with varying learning needs. Assist in planning and organising instructional activities and materials. Foster positive behaviour and classroom management in accordance with school policies. Support students with special educational needs (SEN) and individualised education plans (IEPs). Administer backssments and track student progress under the guidance of the classroom teacher. Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and organised classroom. Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers regarding students progress and any concerns.
