Job Description: Job Title: Kitchen Helper (NOC 65201)Position Available: 1Location: Halifax, NSJob Type: Full-time, Permanent Language: English Salary: $14.5/hr,40 hours per week Job Responsibilities: -Prepare meal ingredients; peel, chop, cut and slice food items including meat, poultry, seafood, vegetables, fruits and other food items using manual and electric appliances. -Properly wash and dry all dishes, utensils, cooking instruments, cutting boards and work tables; sweep and mop the kitchen areas and dining hall floors as needed. -Handle inventory with care and attention to detail; unpack and store supplies in refrigerators and other storage areas; store ingredients and food items according to food safety standards. -Neatly put utensils, cooking instruments, dishes, and cutting boards in their respective places; sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves or in bins according to organizational standards. -Replenish condiments and other supplies at tables and in serving areas, pack take-out orders as needed, ensure product orders are packed and labeled properly. -Follow company’s procedures and standards; inspect, weigh and package products according to safety policies and procedures. -Keep a sanitized, safe and orderly environment in the kitchen; take out the trash, clean up spills and broken dishes, etc. Job Requirements: Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent education is required. Experience: No previous experience required, will train and develop. On-the-job training will be provided. Skills: -Ability to stand for extended periods of time. -Ability to safely use kitchen equipment and appliances. -Ability to lift up to 30lb. -Ability and willingness to learn knowledge of food safety standards and procedures. -Willingness to work assigned schedule which may include multiple shifts, weekends and holidays with rotational weekends off. -Work overtime when required. -Personable, enthusiastic.
