This is a hybrid position based out of our Fort Wayne, IN office. Your impact as an Underwriter: Within stipulated underwriting authority limits, this position is accountable for reviewing and evaluating applications for insurance coverages in order to classify the degree of insurable risk and determine appropriate premium accounts. What the day will look like: Evaluate insurance applications and related documents, including inspection reports, financial statements, loss data, MVR's, and other information needed to properly evaluate and classify the degree of risk in relation to proposed coverage limits. Obtain all relevant information not included with the initial submission to ensure a thorough evaluation of the risk. Review renewal business and recommend appropriate actions to attain premium rate and loss ratio objectives. Prepare own or review other quotations/proposals for presentation to potential clients. Approve the coverages requested within specified underwriting authority, either as submitted or on a modified basis, or decline the risk in its entirety; refer recommended action if risk exceeds underwriting authority. Develop and maintain positive and constructive working relationships with the company's marketing professionals and their production sources in order to attract and retain clients. Review policy forms used in specific programs to ensure consistency and keep producers informed regarding coverage issues. Skills and experience that will lead to success: 3-5 years of demonstrated proficient technical underwriting expertise. Valid P&C and LAH License, or obtain within 90 days of hire. The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $50,600 to $67,500 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location. This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
