Performs Journey level progressive machining and fitting operations utilizing complicated apparatus and equipment. Lays out work from drawings, blueprints or written specifications. Works to very close tolerances involving difficult or unusual machining operations, and utilizes a variety of precision instruments and devices. Checks for proper operations and proper output. May be involved with experimental and developmental work. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Sets-up CNC Machines Edit and Program CNC Machines Trouble Shoot production problems Perform minor repairs on tooling and machines Sharpen tools (i.e. end mills, drills, reamer, boring bars, turning tools) Requests tools for part production Ensures safety procedures are followed Performs quality standards assurance Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each Essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Job Requirements: People Contact: This position requires moderate daily contact with immediate associates, Foreman and General Manager. Decision Making: This position requires working from detailed instructions. Decisions are madeOccasionally, usually after consultation with Foreman or General Manager. Supervision Received: Assignments are both task-oriented and objective-oriented. Follows established procedures for routine work; receives specific instructions on non-routineproblems. Work is reviewed while in process and upon completion for quantity and quality. Education and/or Experience Required: Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge and Experience with trouble shooting, minor repairs, tool geometry and sharpening of tools. Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of machine operators, foreman or manager. Mathematical Skills: (Shop Math) Ability to convert fractions into decimals. Ability to do simple trigonometry. Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to calculate requirements for feeds and speeds. Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the Essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; walk; talk; and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative ofthose an employee encounters while performing the Essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes and/or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration.
