Duties : Support the project manager in a successful project delivery. Assist in subcontractor pre-qualification process. Create and administer subcontracts, process RFI's, submittals, and change orders. Create schedule of values and complete owner pay applications. Provide bid support - contact subs for project bidding, set up jobs, plan rotation, maintain schedule & bidding participants, create electronic copies of plans, and maintain accurate subcontractor bid lists. Coordinate team meetings, schedules and timelines. Prepare and submit detailed budget estimates and cost tracking reports. Negotiate contracts with suppliers and subcontractors. Evaluate construction methods, materials & labor requirements and determine cost-effectiveness of plans. Under Project Manager's supervision confer with supervisors, owners, contractors, and designers to resolve matters such as work procedures, design and construction challenges. Prepare prime contracts and related documents per Project Manager. Create and distribute project closeout material, O & M manuals to owner upon project completion. Follow up with City/County agencies regarding permits, entitlements, etc. Assist the project team with closeout of the project. Assist Project Accountant with monthly subcontractor billings and pay applications. Document and resolve issues resulting from project delays. May be assigned manager tasks and responsibilities on occasion outside of this scope of work in order to test aptitude for advancement. Requirements : A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, or closely related field. Knowledge of creating concise and clear presentations, especially pertaining to construction estimates, schedules and services. Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in construction of commercial buildings. Excellent written, organizational and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Computer skill requirements include MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook and MS Project. CONSTRUCTION WORK SCHEDULE This full-time Construction Project Engineer position works 40+ hours per week, usually working an early schedule depending on the individual project.
