We are recruiting for people who can help us achieve this goal. The Department of Public Works supports Nova Scotia’s 23,000 kilometers of roads and highways, 4,100 bridges, and 9 provincial ferries. Vehicle Transportation Inspection is a Division of Public Works and is responsible for safety and compliance through education, inspection and enforcement for all road users that operate on our highways. We inspire public confidence in the public passenger transportation service through education and enforcement of Acts and Regulations that pertain to all road users in our province. About Our Opportunity Under the direction of the Manager of Vehicle Transportation Inspection (VTI), you will be responsible for the management of carrier records. This work is conducted within a regulatory environment, with decisions and actions mainly governed by the Motor Vehicle Act, the Motor Carrier Act, associated Regulations to those Acts, and departmental policy. The incumbent organizes, co-ordinates, carries out all office routines and, maintains records on the inspectors' daily activities. Primary Accountabilities You will monitor carrier records by reviewing convictions, traffic accidents, complaints, correspondence from stakeholders and relaying to the inspectors for appropriate action. The incumbent is also responsible for maintaining carrier records by posting correspondence and identifying Registry of Motor Vehicle (RMV) system problems, needed enhancements, and advising a recommended course of action to the manager. The incumbent will also respond to a high-volume of public/carrier inquiries and complaints related to the National Safety Code (NSC) and, carrier safety. Visit ListedBuy for more information.
