Medical Coding SME Writer – (Pathology and Laboratory)-- Freelance
Description:
This is a REMOTE contract position. AAPC’s members rely on AAPC for information about medical coding, billing, auditing, risk adjustment, compliance, management, and other parts of the healthcare revenue stream. The AAPC Freelance SME Writer researches and writes content producing 700-900-word articles focused on topics of interest to medical coders and billers in an assigned specialty. Job duties include, but may not be limited to: Research, write, and edit content for print and web-based media Collaborate with a managing editor Ensure on-time delivery of all content Ideal candidate will have: Five years writing and editing non-fiction for print or web Knowledge and writing experience in medical coding, reimbursement, healthcare required (CPC ® or similar AAPC credential preferred) Subject matter expertise in coding/billing/auditing/healthcare for pathology and laboratory Strong attention to detail Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills (written and oral); ability to take and act on constructive criticism Familiarity with official writing styles (AP, APA, U of Chicago); ability to follow AAPC style Ability to work independently, efficiently and meet deadlines Creative and self-motivated Proficient in Microsoft Word; experience with OneDrive and SharePoint a plus Education requirements: Coding or billing certification required Attributes : Passionate.
