The Fleet Services Division of the Department of Public Works supports the backbone of our provincial highway infrastructure. We are located at Miller Lake, the central Fleet Services hub of the province. At Miller Lake, we are pivotal in ensuring the equipment used to maintain, repair, and build Nova Scotia’s 23,000 kilometers of roads and highways, and 4,100 bridges, is always ready to go. About Our Opportunity The Mechanical Maintenance Worker I is responsible for the efficient operation of a tractor/trailer (float) to transport heavy equipment, parts, and materials across the province. Primary Accountabilities As the Mechanical Maintenance Worker, your role is primarily responsible for: Operates tractor/trailer unit to perform required duties in a safe and efficient manner. Loads and unloads equipment/materials/parts on and off trailer. Ensures loads are properly secured prior to transport. Ensure tractor/trailer is parked in a safe manner, prior to loading and unloading. Performs procedures as required under the pre-trip inspections and preventative maintenance program.
