The OpportunityWe are seeking an experienced and dynamic Food ProductionPackaging Manager( Meat Processing)to lead our meat-slicing and packaging operations. You are directly responsible for being a dedicated hands-on professional who prioritizes safety, quality control, operational efficiency, and a strong commitment to continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will be adept at managing large teams, setting, and achieving goals, and ensuring the highest standards of product quality.Who We AreDietz and Watson was founded in 1939 by Gottlieb Dietz, a talented young German sausage maker. His primary goal was to produce the most flavorful, highest quality deli meats in the marketplace, to please even the most discriminating palate. His old-world recipes and commitment to quality above all demanded nothing less than the freshest lean beef, ham, pork turkey breast and chicken breast. He then added only the finest all-natural spices and seasonings gathered from around the world.Today, at Dietz & Watson, the fourth generation of the family continues Gottlieb Dietz s dedication and commitment in preparing our Premium Deli Meats and Artisan Cheeses. In fact, all of our standards exceed those set by government guidelines.Our mission is always both perfection and originality. This is how we prepare wholesome, nutritious, and uniquely premium meats. And our Master cheese makers create our hand-churned, small batch cheeses with the same commitment to quality above all .Production leadership is expected to be onsite during their scheduled shift and is at the discretion of your manager based on operational needs. Specific expectations should be discussed with your manager.What You BringOversee a team of over 100 associates and multiple supervisors in the meat-slicing and packaging departments.Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.Implement and enforce safety protocols to ensure a secure working environment.Develop and maintain stringent quality control measures to meet or exceed industry standards.Implement and optimize production schedules to meet demand and reduce waste.Streamline processes to enhance productivity while maintaining the highest quality standards.Lead initiatives for continuous improvement in packaging processes.Identify opportunities for efficiency gains, waste reduction, and cost savings, and implement effective solutions.Develop and monitor KPIs to measure performance and identify areas for improvement.Set realistic and challenging goals for the packaging departments, ensuring alignment with overall organizational objectives.Demonstrate strong organizational skills to manage various aspects of the packaging process efficiently.Attention to detail is crucial in maintaining product quality and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.Motivate and inspire team members to achieve excellence in their roles.Provide coaching and professional development opportunities to supervisors and associates.Foster clear and open communication channels within the packaging departments and with other relevant stakeholders.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address challenges and implement improvements.Proven experience in a similar role within the meat processing or food manufacturing industry.Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage large teams and multiple supervisors effectively.Experience in setting and achieving KPIs and goals for operational performance.Knowledge of safety and quality control standards in food processing.Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.Proficient in production scheduling and waste reduction strategies.Motivated self-starter with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement practices.Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Business, Operations Management, Food Science, etc.) is preferred.Several years of experience in a managerial role within meat processing or a related industry.Is physically able to stand for the duration of the shift, move boxes up and down, including bending and frequently lifting (up to 60 lbs. required)Ability to work in a refrigerated environment with a constant temperature between 28-32 (F)*Military experience welcomed
