LADY LUMLEY’S EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION RCN 529625 CLERK TO THE GOVERNORS The Governors wish to appoint a clerk upon the retirement of their long-standing clerk in July 2025. The appointment will start in July 2024 to work alongside the present clerk before taking over. The Foundation is an Ancient Charity making grants to young people in Thornton Dale, Pickering, and Sinnington and to Lady Lumley’s School This is a part-time position that involves taking care of the duties of the Governors, arranging thrice-yearly meetings, and carrying out all correspondence with Statutory bodies and beneficiaries. They will undertake all banking duties for the Foundation. Alongside the charity’s accountants and auditors, they are responsible for the keeping of the accounts. They will also be responsible for managing, along with the Foundation’s agents, the charity’s land holdings, and with the financial advisors, the charity's portfolio of investments. They will ensure all legal obligations of the charity are observed, with the assistance of solicitors when necessary. A knowledge of Charity and Trust law is not necessary but the ability to understand and apply it will be an advantage, A salary is payable.
