OverviewSUMMARY Global Management Services LLC, a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation is currently seeking a qualified Heavy Equipment Mechanic for The Denver Federal Center Roads and Grounds contract. Performs general maintenance and repairs to a variety of heavy equipment in the shop utilizing departmental equipment as authorized and available to accomplish the work.ResponsibilitiesESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESThe Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position and are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job. Other duties may be assigned. * Operates and inspects machines or equipment to diagnose defects. Dismantles and reassembles equipment, using hoists and hand tools. * Examines parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges. * Replaces defective engines and subassemblies, such as transmissions. * Tests overhauled equipment to insure operating efficiency. * Welds broken parts and structural members. * Keep work area clean and orderly; follow all work safety rules and procedures. * Comply with all Contamination Control procedures. * Other duties as assignedQualificationsQUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty. Required (Minimum) Qualifications * High school diploma. * Shall have a current and valid State driver's license covering the type of vehicle or equipment being used. * Must maintain current commercial driver's license for the type of vehicle being operated. * Minimum three years prior experience.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics * Some Computer SkillsPreferred * N/APHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for bending, stooping, sitting, walking or standing for prolonged periods of time; working requirements are a combination of maintenance shop activities which require lifting, handling or moving up to 75 lbs, working in on top of or beneath vehicles or equipment on jacks/stands; and office settings for data entry and reporting. Proper wearing of Personal Protective Equipment is essential along with hearing protection when required.DOT COVERED/SAFETY-SENSITIVE ROLE REQUIREMENTS * This position is not subject to federal requirements regarding Department of Transportation "safety-sensitive" functions. WORK ENVIRONMENTWork Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The work described herein is primarily active, performed in a maintenance shop setting. Walking and climbing will be required at work sites. The work environment involves risks or discomforts that require specific safety precautions typical of such places as vehicle and maintenance shop environments.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES * No supervisory responsibilities.ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS As a condition of employment, may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results to obtain access to military base.
