The Opportunity This is a 12-week internship starting in May or June 2024, depending on your availability. Nutanix offers both remote and hybrid internships where you would work from the San Jose, CA, office 2-3 days/week. Submit your application by April 13, 2024. Low-Level Engineering is responsible for the Acropolis Hypervisor (AHV), which is integral to the Nutanix software stack. It is part of the hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) platform and is based on Linux KVM; Nutanix hyper-converged storage also supports VMware and Hyper-V. The intern would support an enterprise-grade hypervisor built from open-source technologies. The intern selected for this team will gain a deep insight into low-level programming, including Kernel, virtual machines, and GPU drivers. They will also directly work with source code and implement new features to this product that customers will use. Stay connected with your manager and peers through regular meetings and Slack chats. What You'll Bring You are pursuing a bachelor's in computer science or a related field. You have taken one or more courses in the areas of Operating/Distributed Systems and advanced computer Architecture. You are fluent in C, Python, and Linux Kernel programming, as well as multi-threading algorithms and data structures on Linux O/S. Exposure to or projects related to one or more of the following systems: Linux Kernel debugging and virtualization. Less than 3-12 of prior project/internship experience. This position is for those pursuing a master's degree. The total compensation package for this position may or may not include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered.
