Job Title: Senior Technical Accountant Location: Maldon (hybrid, flexible working options considered)Position Status: Temporary (3 Months )Salary: £450-£600 Per Day (DOE)-Inside IR35Overview We are supporting an exceptional Local Authority in their search for a Senior Technical Accountant based in Maldon on a temporary basis of 3 months. As the Senior Technical Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in leading the closure of the Councils accounts and the preparation of the Statement of Accounts, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards. You will manage the external audit process, monitor legislative changes, and advise on their impact on financial practices. Additionally, you will be responsible for establishing consistent accounting policies, managing treasury activities, and contributing to the management of the finance team. Key Accountabilities: Lead the closure of the Councils accounts and preparation of the Statement of Accounts. Manage the external audit process and ensure timely resolution of audit queries. Monitor new legislation, regulations, and accounting standards, and advise on their implementation. Determine and document consistent accounting policies for the Council. Implement procedures to maintain control over accounting activity. Lead the management of treasury management activities. Contribute to the management of the finance team and assist in developing and implementing policies. The Experience You Will Bring: Significant experience and knowledge of financial accounting practices within a local government context. Experience in dealing with year-end budgets. Excellent working knowledge of legislation and developments in local government finance. Proven ability to provide sound advice and guidance on financial matters.
