Education Support Worker (ESW) within our Student Services, Wellbeing Team 37 hrs per week, 36 weeks per year (termtime) permanent £21,455 - £23,034 per annum pro rata Are you considering a career in education, social care or supporting vulnerable people and not sure where to start? Then consider joining our Student Services Wellbeing team as an Education Support Worker! The purpose of the Education Support Worker (ESW) role is to support a discreet group of students, defined by the College as vulnerable young people. This currently includes students that are currently or have been Looked After (L. A. C. ) You will join a busy team in our student services Wellbeing team where you will support a caseload of students to engage well with their education and in doing so have the best chance of being successful on their course. You will work closely with a wide variety of professionals including our internal college wellbeing and teaching delivery teams as well as external social workers, support workers and carers all from different Local Authorities. The role is focussed on co-ordinating and contributing to support meetings such as Personal Education Plan (PEP) meetings, communicating planned targets, actions, and progress to teaching delivery staff, parents / carers, and managers as well as monitoring and supporting individual students to so that they are able to maintain consistent attendance and achievement on their chosen course. The ideal applicants will have a level 2 or equivalent qualification and previous experience working in an educational, youth work or residential care setting. The ability to work to timescales whilst maintaining an empathetic approach, having knowledge of L. A. C, Leaving Care and Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC) processes and an understanding of the mental health difficulties students might face will be beneficial.
