Seeking an Inpatient Therapy Supervisor We are seeking a CA licensed Physical Therapist - Lead to join our team for a full-time position in our Santa Clarita hospital. You will provide direct patient care and support rehabilitation activities. Under the general direction of the Rehab Director, he/she serves as a practicing member of the Physical Therapy team (maintaining California state licensure) and supervises physical therapy assistants and physical therapy aides. In addition, the Physical Therapist - Lead is responsible in facilitating learning for others within the service line and growing the program through marketing, physician relations, and mentorship. Other administrative duties will be required, including but not limited to, review of staff members engaged in assisting patients in regaining or retaining their highest functional level considering their physical abilities and disabilities; establishing policies and procedures, standards, and objectives for the treatment of patients; evaluating the performance of staff members and maintaining the departmental Quality and Performance Improvement Program. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB Reports to the Director of Rehab Services. Supervises staff therapists, assistants, rehab aides. Interfaces with Clients as well as medical facility personnel (i.e., Hospital Administrators). Coordinates activity with other department heads and participates in company meetings. Works closely with Rehab Director relative to operational assignments. Functions as clinical resource for Rehab personnel. RESPONSIBILITIES: Assigns and coordinates the distribution of the patient load and other responsibilities to staff so that the workload is equally divided. Accurately screens, evaluates and treats patients as needed Supervise, orients, trains, evaluates, and counsels department employees to improve their job performance and to maintain high standards of care (includes performance evaluation, professional development, and disciplinary action). Assist with facility specific policies and procedures for the department and assures employee compliance. Ensures and monitors all department operations are in compliance with local, state and federal regulatory guidelines and standard and compliance, i.e., Centers for Medicare-Medicaid Services, Joint Commission of Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, Department of Health - Title 22, et. al. Ensures documentation guideline compliance with a medical records system that: is accurate meets governmental and third party payer requirements; minimizes duplication; reflect a clear picture of the resident's/patient's problems, the therapist's intervention and the patient outcomes. Serves as a clinical resource to Rehab staff. Develops, implements, and monitors new and ongoing rehab programs. Develop and implements Physical Therapist and Physical Therapy Assistant student training programs to meet educational requirements. Serves as a clinical resource to Physical Therapy preceptor. Coordinates the same with Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy, as needed. Assists Rehab Manager in quality management / performance improvement programs. Assists management with orientation, education and training of rehab personnel. Assists with recruitment, placement, and retention of rehab staff. Interviews prospective staffs to assure appropriate qualifications are present for employment. Assists management with coordination of operational issues such as clinical coverage and treatment. Assists with rehabilitation personnel performance reviews. Participates in community and professional educational presentations. Performs other administrative/clinical duties as assigned. Fosters interdisciplinary communication and coordinates department functions with other services in a constructive manner that helps build team rapport, effectiveness and enhance overall quality of the rehabilitation program. Communicates effectively with administration on an ongoing basis about department programs, goal, objectives, problems, and successes (contract enhancement activities). Assures that the department complies with corporate and facility policies and procedures. Communicates effectively with physicians, rehabilitation team members and families regarding patient problems, progress and department programs. Communicates effectively to the public and to medical personnel outside the facility regarding the therapy services offered by the facility. Participates in in-service training programs for the facility and the rehab department. Is familiar with department revenue and expense information and controls expenditure of funds to meet budgetary requirements. QUALIFICATIONS Candidate must fulfill his/her own professional licensing and all legal requirements of the jurisdiction relating to the practice of Physical Therapy in the state of California. CPR Certification (AHA), with recertification upon expiration (or within 30 days of expiration). Satisfy human resources requirements, but not limited to, CPR certification, annual physical examination, license verifications, Fire Card certification, skills competency and orientation requirements. Must possess interpersonal skills to work with other team, members and patients/families. SKILLS REQUIREMENTS Verbal ability is necessary to understand oral and written instructions and medical terminology and to exchange such information with patients, therapists and hospital staff. Written communication is necessary for daily documentation in the patient's chart and for patient education as needs dictate. Ability to interact well with other therapy department personnel, hospital staff, medical staff and patients: Sensitive to patients' psychological and physiological needs to facilitate the rehabilitation process.
