GRANTS AND CONTRACTS SPECIALIST Benjamin Franklin Cummings Institute of Technology https://www.bfit.edu/ Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology (BFIT) is a private, non-profit technical college located in Boston's South End. Founded in 1908, the college is proud of its long tradition of educating students for skilled, high-demand technical careers in a variety of industries, including automotive, advanced manufacturing, computer technology, health care, and construction trades through a mixture of 1-year, 2-year, and 4-year programs. Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology recently received the largest gift in its history: $12.5 million from the Cummings Foundation to continue to advance its leading-edge work in creating technical career pathways for students typically underrepresented in post-secondary education. POSITION SUMMARY: The Grants and Contracts Specialist will provide support to ensure efficient management of all grants and contracts aspects of the funded projects of BFCIT. S/he will assist in the day-to-day work of project/program related grants and contracts processes in coordination with other BFCIT staff. This person will work closely with program staff, development office staff, and business office staff in all aspects of grant and contract management. REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Interdisciplinary Technology KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 70% of the role: Contributes to management of full award cycle for grants and contracts, including review of award letters, execution, implementation management, monitoring, communication with recipients, and closeout. Initial focus will be to assist in the implementation of EDA Good Jobs Challenge grant purposed to increase the number of workers in clean energy careers. With Executive Directors of the Center of Interdisciplinary Technology and the Center of Energy Efficiency and the Trades, complete quarterly and monthly grant reports related to compliance with state and federal awards. Coordinate green jobs/clean tech bootcamps to prepare high school students for college-level course work in exciting new industries. Help implement grant funded activities (meetings, convenings, trainings, etc.) to ensure all grant outcomes are achieved. Collaborate with admissions, development, financial aid, student accounts, success coaches, and instructors to ensure that grant outcomes are met. Conduct research, collect data, and complete reports to support program development. Identifies issues and risks related to grant/contract activity implementation. Ensures full compliance with BFCIT, Federal and State government policies, best practices, and procedures relating to contracts and grant development, awards, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and grant and contract close-out. Periodically update grant policy manuals as required. 30% of the role: Supports the College Comptroller and Business Office Manager with grant accounting, contract invoicing, accounts payable, and purchasing functions within the business office. Other duties as assigned. SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS: Associate or bachelor's degree in quantitative skills, business, project management, or a relevant field is required. Working knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft office suite applications. Experience with, and a demonstrated sensitivity to, understanding the needs and concerns of students who are justice involved and urban student population (many of whom are first-generation college students). Availability for evening and weekend work during peak times with the ability to travel to and from partner locations activities as needed. Valid driver's license and mode of transportation required. Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong presentation skills with demonstrated ability to develop interpersonal and organizational relationships. Self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, the ability to multi-task, and the ability to pay special attention to detail. Ability to utilize and train colleagues on new software and other technology as needed. Familiarity with Bills.com or a similar platform is a plus, but not required.
