The Environmental Services Team of the Department of Public Works plays a pivotal role in ensuring new and existing infrastructure in our Province is sustainably developed with minimal risk to our environment. We have an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Engineer, perfect for a person who has developed technical skills in the planning and execution of infrastructure projects, such as highway and building construction/maintenance. About Our Opportunity As the Environmental Engineer, you are responsible for the planning, coordination and administration of complex environmental projects such as decommissioning sites of former provincial buildings, improving environmental performance of our operating highway bases, and providing engineering support to either highway or building maintenance and construction projects. Primary Accountabilities The Environmental Engineer will manage contaminated sites through the provincial regulatory process and will provide technical expertise related to regulated building materials for the purpose of renovation or deconstruction of provincial infrastructure. You will also be responsible for leading the environmental backssment, screening or permitting (as required) of major projects such as the construction of highways or other significant provincial infrastructure. You will contribute to the development and maintenance of environmental design policies and standards. You will also be responsible for coordinating research and analysis related to environmental engineering technologies and procedures as they relate to highway and infrastructure construction, an essential part of your role.
