The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations. Position Overview Working as a part of the Child Life Department, under the supervision of the Manager the Child Life Assistant performs a variety of supportive Child Life functions for the care and comfort of patients and families. Experience Previous experience working with children in a healthcare setting required. Child Life experience preferred. Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate) Complete high school education, Manitoba standards, required. Early Childhood Educator Certificate or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience as recognized by the Centre. SPECIAL TRAINING: The Child Life Assistant is responsible for acquiring appropriate knowledge of medical terms specific to their programming. Certification/Licensure/Registration Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with applicable policy. Qualifications and Skills Competence in the areas of growth and development, play and family dynamics. Basic computer skills required. Basic Video/Audio skills preferred. Must have a basic understanding of the effects of hospitalization on children and families. Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Must adhere to the principles.
