Description and Responsibilities Are you organized, independent, and like making decisions? Our family is looking for someone to support a lovely 47-year-old lady with a Traumatic Brain injury (our immediate family member). This is a part-time position that can offer a flexible range of hours – anywhere from 10 to 20 hrs/week. It is imperative that all candidates be energetic, outgoing, organized, and self-sufficient, with a focus on developing a strong and trusting relationship with the client and family. The position requires good communication and active listening skills, judgement of safe/unsafe situations, and basic technological skills (such as the use of Microsoft word, excel, etc. ). Respect for the client and family privacy is essential. Responsibilities may include: Plan and assist with personal care tasks, social activities, and medical appointments Maintaining medical records Light meal preparation/assistance Light housekeeping Researching and determining appropriateness of new activities and volunteer pursuits Maintaining communication with other caregivers and family members Qualifications and Experience Class 5 driver’s license, able to drive own car First aid training (an asset) Preference will be given to those with a nursing or medical background Experience in healthcare administration and supervision an asset 3+ years of experience working with individuals with disabilities, brain injuries, or similar neurological disorders an asset Experience with baking/cooking an asset All training will be provided Benefits Wage competitive for qualifications Friendly, outgoing client who requires very little physical assistance Long term/flexible employment possibilities Relaxed, welcoming, and pleasant work environment The application is open until the position is filled!
