SBM is seeking a Structural Engineering Trainee or Engineer in our Structural Small Buildings Division in our Kitchener office. This candidate will be responsible for assisting with structural analysis and design for a variety of building types, including single-family and small multi-residential dwellings (included in Part 9 of the OBC). Field work, including structure evaluation and/or construction review, may also be required. SBM has offices in London and Kitchener, providing engineering services to a variety of private and public sector clients across Southwestern Ontario. The firm employs over 120 engineers, engineering trainees, technologists, technicians, planners, and administrative personnel. Key Responsibilities: Become familiar with design guidelines, standards, and regulations associated with structural engineering Perform site inspections and prepare field observation reports Preparation of structural engineering design and documents ensuring accuracy, adequacy, and conformance to the design requirements Set up Auto CAD drawings as per the company’s standard Prepare Auto CAD drawings from sketches, mark-ups and/or design Manage project tasks within assigned time and budget constraints Maintain familiarity with current techniques, codes, and standards to sustain and improve technical skills Assist in researching new systems, resources, analytical processes, procedures and working practices to identify and implement changes to increase efficiency, productivity, and overall profitability Coordinate with other team members on various projects at the same time to achieve project milestones.
