POSITION SUMMARY: Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) seeks an innovative and collaborative Assistant Curator of Mineralogy. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with and elevate the Museum's extensive Earth Sciences collection. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in interpreting and promoting the significance of mineralogy, enhancing public awareness and appreciation of its critical role in our world. Key responsibilities include actively engaging with the public to stimulate conversations on the importance of Earth Sciences, performing curatorial tasks within the Department, contributing to ongoing research in Earth Sciences, and cultivating collaborative solid networks within ROM and with external partners. This role is ideal for a visionary individual passionate about advancing the field of mineralogy and its public understanding. RESPONSIBILITIES: Contribute to the ongoing research program in the Earth Sciences collections, including working on multi-disciplinary research projects with postdocs, students and staff. Assist with collaborative efforts within multi-disciplinary exhibition teams, working closely with educators, programmers, and designers to seamlessly integrate Earth Sciences into special exhibitions and permanent galleries that explore the intersection of Earth Sciences, art, culture, and nature. Engage the public passionately, enhancing their comprehension of the critical role of geology in Earth's well-being and long-term sustainability. Create impactful programs, panels, and publications that engage experts and broader audiences, elevating awareness of Earth Science’s central role in society.
