Short Term Temporary Opportunity - Winter Months Warming Centre ( 3 or 4 month contract with a bonus) Warming Centre Good Shepherd Centres - Men's Centre has received funding for a temporary emergency warming centre. We will be using the space at the former Cathedral High School located at 378 Main Street East. This initiative aims to accommodate up to 50 adult men and gender diverse/male identified people who are impacted by homelessness. The facility will operate 12 hours nightly for seven nights a week. The centre will offer its clients respite from the outdoors, providing them with snacks that cater to diverse dietary needs and customs, warm beverages, and breakfast. The 12 hours schedule may look like: 3 days on 2 days off, 2 days on and 3 days off and so on. The warming space is well-equipped with essential amenities including washroom and shower facilities, secure storage for clients' personal belongings, and security cameras, with additional security measures planned. To ensure client comfort, chairs, mats, blankets, and pillows will be provided. Good Shepherd follows a harm reduction approach in its client services, equipping the facility with sharps containers and other harm reduction supplies and resources. The facility also offers private spaces for staff and client meetings, such as intakes, backssments, and referrals. This program offers a brief emergency response to individuals who do not have safe shelter. It is not designed to provide comprehensive housing support services or ongoing case management.
