SBM is currently seeking an energy modeling intern to work with our engineering staff in the Mechanical division of our London office for 16 months. Candidates will assist the energy modeling team with the simulation of a variety of commercial and residential projects. Energy modeling is an increasingly important aspect of building design which focuses on accurately modelling envelope constructions, HVAC and electrical systems, and other loads that affect a building’s energy usage. SBM has offices in London and Kitchener, providing engineering services to a variety of private and public sector clients across Southwestern Ontario. The firm employs over 100 engineers, engineers-in-training, technologists, technicians, planners, and administrative personnel. Key Responsibilities: Become familiar with design guidelines, standards, and regulations associated with electrical engineering Preparation of electrical engineering design and documents ensuring accuracy, adequacy, and conformance to the design requirements Coordinate with other team members on various projects at the same time to achieve project milestones Accept technical guidance from designers, technologists, and senior staff Work within the project team environment from preliminary stages of the design through to completion Coordinate Electrical aspects of projects with other discipline designs and drawings Skills / Qualifications: Completed three years towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) from an accredited Canadian University, or equivalent, and enrolled to complete the Degree A good understanding of building.
