Serving approximately 13,969 annually and providing 1,788 units of supportive housing last year, LOFT is one of Ontario’s largest mental health service providers of its kind. LOFT is also recognized as a Nonprofit Employer of Choice™ Award (NEOC) recipient. To help fulfill its mission, LOFT is hiring a Overnight, Housing Support Worker. JOB SUMMARY: To provide assistance and support to clients living with mental illnesses in the Mc Ewan residence or independently in the community. WHAT YOU WILL DO: Through a team oriented professional approach, the Housing Support Worker provides direct support to clients to increase their independence, dignity, and self-respect, in a safe and secure environment by: Building a rapport with each client to enable them to meet the daily requirements of their housing environment and promoting a healthy lifestyle; directly assisting with daily living activities, particularly in such areas as hygiene (grooming, shaving, skin care), medication management, cooking, meal planning, cleaning, shopping and budgeting in accordance with their plan of care; assisting those clients with physical disabilities or chronic illnesses in feeding, moving or transfers, toileting or incontinence when requested or required; Maintaining a general awareness of the activities or whereabouts of clients at the program, identifying issues, communicating or noting incidents for program leadership as required; intervening in issues pertaining to maintenance or property; providing cleaning or minor house maintenance as required; teaching clients the appropriate fire safety protocols, conducting.
