A Day in the Life As Director of Organizing, you will report to the Managing Director of Engagement & Growth and will be primarily responsible for guiding your team throughout campaigns to mobilize and organize non-unionized workers - while developing a culture of organizing within the local. You will also work to engage disengaged union members around specific campaigns to build a united and engaged union. Here’s what you can expect to dig into in this exciting, hands-on role: Key Responsibilities Lead the Organizing Department of UFCW 1518 to plan and implement external organizing campaigns, while also supporting internal organizing, including: Union organizing drives Contract ratification campaigns Job action campaigns (i. e. strikes) Leadership development in disengaged units Establish strategies and systems to support and build a growing organizing department that is prepared to take on large organizing targets In collaboration with the Managing Director, develop an annual strategic growth plan, with defined targets and goals, and a plan to meet them Plan and execute organizing-focused education initiatives to embed a culture of organizing.
