Project Description DRT provides data, technology, and mission support to its federal public health partners. We collaborate to address diverse, complex, and emerging problems within the public health domains of environmental health, infectious disease, chronic disease, and emergency preparedness/response. Our support drives the adoption of emerging best practices and technologies to increase the usefulness and value of public health data. Our team develops innovative data capture and analysis techniques in the field to enhance emergency response efforts all around the world. Job Summary The Scientific Data Analyst works public health professionals, data stewards, project coordinators, and developers. The Analyst applies their expertise in public health disciplines to collect, abstract, code, analyze, or interpret scientific data contained within information systems and databases related to public health. The Analyst reviews data tables and prepares data transformation specifications to be implemented by their team. Responsibilities Independently conducts scientific data analyses and data mining Designs charts and other visualizations to communicate data findings Updates and reviews data tables, including reviewing data source documentation to understand the parameters of the data source Plans and conducts high-quality research by selecting appropriate statistical methods Keeps up to date and learns latest data science methods and approaches Completes tasks on time with minimal supervision but supports collaboration across teams Required Experience Must have or be able to obtain a Public Trust with the US federal government Experience in data-focused roles within public health Proficient in a variety of data science tools (R, Python, SQL) and techniques Experience with cloud and on premise data sources such as Azure, AWS, SQL Understanding of public health data sources and analyses Strong analytic and organizational skills Excellent written and oral communication skills Preferred Experience Knowledge of statistics, including a course of study that included at least 15 semester hours in statistics (or in mathematics and statistics, provided at least 6 semester hours were in statistics) Experience and applied coursework in collecting, computing, and analyzing statistical data Education and Training Degree in data science, public health, biostatistics, or a related field (e.g., sociology, medicine, and biological or health sciences) DRT’s culture is reflective of our core values: Professionalism: Be a leader and someone your customers and colleagues can count on by taking ownership and accountability for your work.
