Avionics Test Engineer

Description:
Essential Functions: AEVEX Aerospace is seeking a mid-level to senior-level full-time test engineer to aid in the support of a small UAS aircraft electromechanical design, assembly, and test. Experience in the UAS utilizing open-source and proprietary autopilots Arduplane, PX4, etc. Experience updating key flight parameters and key flight metrics in autopilots is desired. Plan and perform electrical engineering research, design development and other assignments in conformance with design, engineering and customer specifications. Work closely with other engineers to increase system automation and efficiency Write procedures for system use and maintenance. Assist with advanced troubleshooting of autopilots and parameters Develop trades in SWaP (size, weight, and power) Show an understanding of microcontrollers and embedded hardware Show an understanding of computer networking basics such as IP addresses, ports, routing. Supporting aircraft mission systems integration (radios, payloads, sensors) Electrical engineering support Defining Cable building, wire stripping and crimping, soldering, installation of avionics equipment Drawing up fixtures, cables, assemblies to be committed design documents. Ability to use electronic test equipment and diagnostic tools Machining and tooling Operate CNC machine and other fabrication machines to make fixtures and parts. Ability to work with hand tools and power tools Maintenance and upkeep of machines and tools Soldering Knowledge of Mil-Spec and Avionics tooling Ability to read and follow wiring diagrams, drawings and schematics Maintaining work area for daily operations and cleanliness Qualifications: Passion for aviation and flight Associates or Bachelor's in Engineering or applicable technical field Detail oriented and capable with working in a team environment Hold a current Secret clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SCI within 6 months Job may require up to 25% travel throughout the year to CONUS and or OCONUS locations Physical effort including standing, lifting, and carrying equipment up to 25 lbs. unassisted Must be available to work extended hours and weekends as needed AEVEX provides a full suite of comprehensive benefits, including a 401(k)-retirement plan, comprehensive Medical, Dental, Vision, Disability and Life insurance group coverage with a portion of the premiums paid by the company, professional development funds, and an Employee Assistance Plan (EAP) with counseling, legal help, child and elder care support, among other benefits.
