Overview: St. Patrick Catholic High School, a parochial high school supported by eighteen Catholic parishes within the Diocese of Biloxi, recently selected as a National Blue Ribbon School, and ranked the #1 Best Catholic High School in Mississippi, seeks a bus driver for the 2021-22 school year.In keeping with a tradition of excellence, the role of the bus driver is to provide safe, courteous, and comfortable transportation for students on daily bus routes, to assist students with boarding and exiting the bus, and to implement safety plan measures as needed.This position will be a full-time, twelve-month, salaried position. The position will be employed "at will" and shall serve at the direction of the Principal of St. Patrick Catholic High School. Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required. Know, recognize and obey road signs and signals. Exercise the effective defensive driving skills of self-control, alertness, foresight, and good judgment at all times while operating the school bus. Conduct a thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspection of the school bus. Maintain routes and schedules as planned by school administration. Remain alert at all times to hazards, including but not limited to poor weather conditions, other vehicles, road conditions and trains at railroad crossings. Report any hazards along the existing route to the school administration. Keep exterior clean and adjusted mirrors at all times. Keep the interior for the bus clean and sanitary, enforcing regulations against eating and drinking on the bus. Transport only authorized students. Maintain student discipline on the bus and reports student discipline referrals to the school administration. Exercise responsible leadership when on out-of-district and/or extracurricular school trips as assigned. Notify the school administration of mechanical failure of the bus or lateness in meeting route schedule. Participate in safety and procedures training as required. Perform bus evacuation drills as assigned utilizing appropriate emergency procedures. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Principal. Qualifications : Listed below are the preferred qualifications for this position: Appropriate and required licensure. Proven experience as bus driver or similar role. Knowledge of use and maintenance of bus and equipment. Knowledge of safety protocols pertaining to bus driving. Attention to detail and conscientiousness. Compensation: Compensation will be highly competitive and commensurate with the applicant's qualifications and experience and may include benefits including participation in the organization's health plan and retirement plan.
