JOB DESCRIPTION: School Crossing Guard CONTRACT TERMS: 180-day calendar REPORTS TO: Safety Director & Building Principal SALARY GRADE: 1 FAIR LABOR STANDARDS ACT: Non-exempt There are 3 openings - 2 for the Middle/High School and 1 for Elementary JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for controlling vehicular and pedestrian traffic at school crossings to prevent accidents and protect the safety of school children and other pedestrians. This is an hourly position and persons in this position work 3 hours per day (morning and afternoon) for 180 days. QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent. A combination of education and experience may be considered. Must have a valid State of Georgia driver's license. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Assists children in safely crossing intersections to and from school. Records license numbers of vehicles disregarding traffic signals and reports infractions to law enforcement. Monitors and stops traffic to ensure that children can safely cross the street. Reports misconduct of students. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Generally, the job requires 80% standing, 20% walking EVALUATION: Performance of this position and its responsibilities will be evaluated at least annually by the Safety Director, in accordance with provisions of Board policies for evaluations.
