Maintenance Worker, Nuisance Abatement (Code Compliance)

Description:
Position will be open until filled. GENERAL PURPOSE: Under general supervision, abatement of growth restrictions, junk, and unsightly violations on private and public properties, additional duties as required in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Cleaning properties, removing junk, trash, and debris. Cutting tall grass, weeds, brush. Operation of push mowers, riding mowers, trimmers, chain saw, pole saw, and other specialized tools. Operation of light equipment, tractor with shredder, and grapple bucket attachments. Operation of pickup truck while pulling various size trailers. Performs maintenance and repairs within scope of authority, and in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures; reports safety hazards, equipment problems and emergency situations. Cleans and stores hazardous materials according to City policy and procedures. Hours: 20 hours per week. Regular and timely attendance is required. Other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience: High School diploma or equivalent; and one year of general work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Required Licenses or Certifications: Must possess a valid driver license with a good driving record. Applicants with an out-of-state driver license must provide an original certified driving record from the state of driving licensure. Required Knowledge of: City policies and procedures. City safety rules and regulations, occupational hazards and safety precautions. Required Skill in: Safe and efficient operation and maintenance of tools and equipment. Closely following verbal and written instructions and procedures. Physical Demands / Work Environment: Work is performed outdoors in various conditions. Requires constant physical efforts, and ability to push, pull, and carry 50 pounds. Job postings may be withdrawn at any time at direction of the City Manager.
