Employment Opportunity: Friends School of Baltimore has an opening for an Interim Upper School Art Teacher for the Fall Semester of 2023, starting in mid-August 2023. The position includes two sections each of Sculpture and ATMD (Art, Technology, Media and Design). Of special interest are teachers who have experience in fabrication, making, industrial design, wood/metal working as well as other new media. We place special emphasis on candidates who are practicing artists and have experience using technology in their teaching, collaborating with colleagues, and using a diversity of assessment techniques. All classes take place in the Upper School Maker Space, so maintaining the shop and shepherding students through safe shop practices are expected. Responsibilities : Teach in a manner that honors Quaker values and the Teaching and Learning Paradigm of Friends School. Attend All-School Professional Days, Department meetings, and Upper School faculty meetings. Collaborate with teachers in their Department, within the division, and cross-divisionally. Provide parents and administrators with written and oral reports that explain in detail how a child is progressing in the various areas of that student's educational experience. Complete timely, detailed, and prescriptive progress reports, grades, and comments at regular intervals during the year for each student taught. Qualifications : Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree and experience preferred Review of resumes will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
