Position Overview: The position of the Medical Assistant (MA) focuses on providing direct patient care. The MA will be responsible for rooming the patients daily, to include manual blood pressures, O2, weight, heart rate. Attention to detail is of the upmost importance for medication reconciliation. The MA will also be responsible for obtaining test results and with collaboration of the provider, generating orders or phone calls to the patient. Essential Functions : Uses acceptable standards of practice based on nursing process and theory to help the individual/family/group, with complex and unpredictable needs, identify and meet basic age-appropriate health needs. The MA coordinates care of the individual/family/group using a multidisciplinary holistic approach. Promotes a climate in which consumers can act in their own interest or intervenes when they are unable to do so. Uses the nursing process and theory to provide age-appropriate individual/family/guardian/designated surrogate education using a wide range of teaching activities to promote health. Works to achieve desired health care outcomes by effectively utilizing human and material resources. Is accountable for the ethical, legal and professional responsibilities related to nursing practice across all the roles, within the scope of practice. Promotes the philosophy and mission of Montrose Regional Health. Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned. Education and Work Experience Education: Graduate of an approved Training Program for Medical Assistants. BCLS on hire. Training and experience: Experience in clinic setting is preferred but will train. Knowledge of basic ECG strips helpful. Job knowledge: Ability to maintain confidentiality. Computer skills and working with electronic medical records. Self-directed and able to multitask. Friendly and positive interpersonal skills. Teamwork is most important. Eye/ear/hand coordination. Manual dexterity. Knowledge of basic cardiac care and working with all age groups. Ability to effectively communicate, verbally, and non-verbally, in a clear, concise manner. Administrative and philosophical compatibility with Montrose Regional Health. Interpersonal skills and sound judgment necessary to communicate with a wide variety of persons including patients. The ability to make appropriate decisions based on fact and knowledge is required. The ability to perform detailed work required. The ability to work harmoniously with employees required. Must demonstrate the ability to maintain confidentiality and show good judgment. The ability to make decisions under pressure and deadlines required. Physical Demands and Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and use hands along with fingers, to handle or feel.
