Director of Lab Services

Description:
Full-time, 40 hours per week. Duties include: Responsible for overseeing the technical duties of the hospital laboratory under CLIA (QC, QA, Regulatory requirements, proficiency and competency testing). Responsible for monitoring the workflow, selecting test methodology appropriate for clinical use, verifies test procedures including accuracy, precision and reportable range, enrolls the laboratory in a proficiency testing program and monitors for satisfactory performance. Works to resolve technical problems and ensures remedial actions are taken. Sets up and monitors lab test procedures in the EMR. Works with controller to oversee lab charge master, reviews invoices, prepares budget, oversees completions of maintenance procedures, works with providers and other departments, attends meetings as required, prepares quality assurance studies, oversees scheduling and staffing and initiates recommendations made by the pathologist.Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, chemical, biological or laboratory science with a minimum of 5 years experience in high complexity testing and/or laboratory management. Previous supervisory experience preferred. Knowledge of CLIA regulations. Ability to write reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information. Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively to maintain good working relationships, ability to work with skill in identifying problems, making frequent decisions regarding method of performance, ability to troubleshoot and problem solve when issues arise. ASCP certification.
