The city of Greensboro lies among the rolling hills of North Carolina's Piedmont Triad (Greensboro/High Point/Winston-Salem) , midway between the state's Blue Ridge and Great Smoky Mountains to the west and the Atlantic beaches and Outer Banks to the east. Over the years, MPG has assembled a dedicated and highly talented staff of print professionals and has built a world-class manufacturing plant that is customer focused, market-competitive, and quality driven. Our unique ability offers a variety of printing and finishing services specializing in trading collectible cards and packaging (folding carton) products. Since 2020, our Greensboro location has tripled in size to approximately a $75 million manufacturing production plant with a projection of continued organic growth through a strategic approach. MPG has expanded its production capacity along with adding new flexo equipment. At the present time, MPG is seeking to hire experienced Flexo Press Operators to join our growing and profitable company looking to advance their careers. Position Summary: Responsible for the setup and operation of basic Flexo jobs on Flexographic printing equipment. The operator directs and coordinates the activities to ensure the production of a quality product. The operator monitors the product being produced for quality, and looks to minimize both waste and spoilage while meeting estimated times with a low spoilage rate. The Flexo Press Operator I works to meet or exceed productivity standards and job schedule. The operator also reports problems in a timely manner to senior operators/Dept. Head. The Flexo Operator I seeks out opportunities to learn from the level II and III operators. Accountable for performing job responsibilities safely and with quality and on-time delivery services while minimizing waste and rework. Position Responsibilities: Reads and understands job jacket, OK'd proofs, impositions and die lines Responsible for matching signed proof and holding color and registration throughout job run Supports color match and content with operator OK sheet/label and run time pulls Proactively runs the jobs with little supervision. Responsible for setup of die stations, male/female dies, undercut, metal to metal and slitter station Demonstrates the ability to consistently mix and maintain inks and chemistry Sets up and runs emboss/deboss dies Sets up and runs delam/relam, couponing Performs plate mounting duties. Responsible for proper posting of time and materials Achieves productivity target set jointly by VP of Manufacturing and the Department Head Passes periodic inspections by VP of Manufacturing on press and general area upkeep Diagnoses problems, makes adjustments, troubleshoots and provides the required maintenance and repairs to equipment in a timely manner Manages self-development by cross training on all equipment in the department Maintains daily clean up and housekeeping of equipment and general area Completes preventive weekly maintenance, confirming completion on weekly record Monitors and notifies managers of inventory and supplies Observes established safe working and housekeeping procedures; promptly corrects hazardous situations Follows all standard operating procedures, work instructions, and ISO requirements Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit. Position Qualifications: Experience, Licenses, Certifications Requires a High School diploma or equivalent Typically requires a minimum of 2 years of experience in Flexographic printing and/or offset experience Intermediate skills in ink chemistry and flexo consumables Fork lift license preferred Experience with MIS software such as Monarch is desired Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Basic proficiency using the internet, Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), Proficient in the use of office equipment: computer, calculator, printers, copiers, and telephone system Demonstrate capability of learning operation of the Webtron 1000 up to 9-colors, Webtron 750 6-color, Nilpeter FB3300 8-color Extreme attention to detail Effective time management skills Excellent oral and written communication skills Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills Effective problem-solving and influencing skills Strong organizational, self-motivation, and decision-making skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Ability to communicate clearly, orally and in writing Ability to work independently and collaboratively, as needed Ability to work outside regular business hours to meet business need Ability to develop strong relationships and work with all levels of employees Must possess good listening skills Must possess strong Mechanical skills Key Competencies: ñ Performance leadership ñ Interpersonal influence ñ Service orientation ñ Integrity ñ Team relationships ñ Problem solving ñ Sourcing and sharing information or assistanceEssential Physical Functions: The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
